The day has finally arrived! The first Mixed Media Monthly Challenge is now live! There is an amazing challenge happening now through June 30... use spray inks! Make anything you want, just use those spray inks or mists you have lying around. June is Donna's month and she has some fantastic tutorials on the MMMC blog, be sure to stop by!
I created a mini canvas that measures 4"x4". The technique is called a Mixed Media Collage. I was inspired to create the collage by another design team member, Lynn Kopas, who creates some amazing collage tags.
I covered the canvas first in DCWV Corrugated paper and Canvas paper. Then I added the sentiment stamp from Unity and added all the other bits and pieces around that. Once you've glued all your trinkets (I used hot glue and E6000) cover the entire thing in gesso. This gives a nice white base for spray inks to hold on to.
Once the gesso dried overnight, I started spraying with inks! I used Dylusions inks in 'Bubblegum Pink', 'Pure Sunshine', 'Vibrant Turquoise', and 'Fresh Lime'. I then sprayed the entire canvas with Color Shine 'Primrose' to give some shimmer. To finish it off, I sprinkled some clear glitter around the canvas and added dots of black India Ink.
Some of the trinkets I included were bottlecaps, paper flowers, ribbons, wood veneers, shaped paperclips, and metal charms. You really can add whatever your heart desires!
Now go visit the Mixed Media Monthly page for more amazing inspiration! You have until June 30 to link up your spray ink project! Thank you for joining us in our very first challenge! Woohoo :)

Let's be Adventurers
There is something extra fun going on at Unity this weekend... mystery grab bags! I have to say that every single one of the stamps is amazing. Angie Blom is the artista and they are just awesome. I'm sharing two of the stamps in my Friends with Flair post today and also linking up with Simon Says Stamp Anything Goes challenge!
I swooned over this stamp. It was great to color and a good way to practice my shading! The image is colored with Copic markers. The papers I picked are a world map and the geo tag pattern.. how perfect?! They are from Studio Calico "Abroad" and "Here and There" papers.
Coffee. Need I say more? I wanted to keep the colors simple and with a yummy Starbucks vibe :). The stamp is colored with Copic markers and papers are from Basic Grey "Paper Cottage" and Studio Calico "Abroad".
One last very important announcement before I leave you... Yesterday my darling Meeko turned 8 years old!! Happy Birthday, Meeko!

S'More Better With You
The blog has been so empty this week, so here I am squeezing in a happy hour post before the sun sets! Donna and I have been working so hard behind-the-scenes for the official launch of the Mixed Media Monthly Challenge, it is taking up quite a bit of free time! Our first challenge starts June 1 already!! We are so excited to get started!
I received my brand new Lawn Fawn goodies yesterday and I was so eager to ink them up! First I had to ink and color the cute images in "Love You S'more". I stamped with Memento ink onto XPress It blending paper, colored with Copics, and fussy cut.
eeeek they're so stinkin cute! I made this card using the sketch from Dahlhouse Designs "Wanna Sketch" challenge and Lawnscaping "Distress Mania" challenge. Every piece of paper was thoroughly distressed with Distress Ink "Chipped Sapphire", "Iced Spruce" and "Evergreen Bough" to make the papers more night-like.
I wanna go camping with that guy and his adorable marshmallow. Papers are from Lawn Fawn "Hello Sunshine" and "Into the Woods".
The fire and the squirrel are adhere with foam dots for dimension. I also added some of my Spica glitter pen to the sentiment, moon, and stars :)
Thanks for spending your happy hour with me on this hump day!

Baby Season
It definitely seems like there's as much of a 'baby season' as there is a 'wedding season'... I can't be the only who feels that way! My brother-in-law is expecting a little baby boy in the fall! These oldie but goodie Lawn Fawn stamps "Plus One" are perfect for babies on the way :)
The current Lawnscaping Challenge is 'Distress'. I created the evening sky look by blending Distress Ink in "Chipped Sapphire", "Tumbled Glass", and "Peacock Feathers". I very lightly misted it with water to get more texture in the sky. I also lightly distressed the teal background paper to be darker.
Copic Color Combos:
Orange Slice: Y11, Y15, Y35 and Y38, YR16
Grapefruit Slice: Y11, Y15, Y35 and R01, R11, R22
Lime Slice: Y02, YG05 and YG07, G14
Have a lovely and safe Memorial Day weekend!

TIP: To keep the stork one layer, I created a stamped mask with a post it note, fussy cut it, and placed it over the stamped stork in the sky. This way I could blend the inks around the page without getting any unwanted color on my stork. I finished it off with some Crystal Stickles, the die cut "Say Cheese" by Lawn Fawn, and the perfect pattern paper from Lawn Fawn's "Hello Sunshine" collection.
One last card for today! Unity Stamps have a new Stamp of the Week called "Need a Squeeze". I am loving citrus colors this season so I had to join in the fun. The colors in this card just happen to be my wedding colors, and I didn't even plan it!
The stamp was colored with Copic markers, die cut, and added on the card with some Icicle Stickles. Pattern paper is from Basic Grey "Fresh Cut" pad and the sequins are from Lawn Fawn "Hello Sunshine" collection.

Banner Happy
TGIF and Happy Friends with Flair. It's been a busy week! I wanted to share the cards I made to send out to the Mixed Media Monthly Challenge design team members... just a little welcome note to the team :)
I used Unity Stamps "Banner Moment" background stamp, a flower from April SMAK, and the sentiment from "sending happy" SOTW.
To create the background, I stamped 4 different Distress Ink colors onto the banner stamp. Then I lightly misted the inked stamp with water, then stamped onto the paper. Once the image was stamped, I gave another mist of water to the paper to help the colors bleed a little more. The flower and sentiment were stamped in 'Chipped Sapphire'.
To finish off the card, I used a star stencil with modeling paste. I immediately put pink fine glitter over the stars to stick to the wet modeling paste, then hit it with my heat gun to dry.
Make sure to stop by the Mixed Media Monthly Challenge to see the fun giveaways going on. We'll start our first challenge on June 1! I can't wait!
