My First Craft Dash

Two days of some serious stock-up grocery shopping have lead to a serious creative brain fart. I started a lot of projects, only to clean them up after five minutes of nothing to show for it. Enter: the 10 Minute Craft Dash. This was my first time dashing, and it was the perfect cure!

This was actually a pretty eye-opening experience. I only had ten minutes to make one card, which originally seemed super easy. Once that clock started tickin I knew any sort of stamping was just not gonna happen. Then I realized I spent 2.5 minutes tying a damn bow! My priorities were definitely not in the right place.

Overall, I'm pretty happy with it. I stuck to one paper pack, no stamps, and very basic embellishments. I ended up finishing in 9 mins 54 secs... I was scrambling to get those damn rhinestones on!

materials: Recollections "Neapolitan Collection" stack, Recollections washi tape, We R Memory Keepers floss/twine, bling.

Say Cheese!

"How y'all doin today?" I asked the hubs what my first line should be in this post, and that was the feedback I was given. So I hope y'all are good :)

I am joining in the Avery Elle challenge for the first time. Here is the inspiration photo

I only have two Avery Elle sets, so I based my card on the design and colors of the photo rather than a water theme.

Brown from the little boardwalk going through the middle of the card with some ocean blues on either side. I used the Avery Elle set "Picture It". The little camera is colored with Copics. The speech bubble is popped up with foam dots and double stamped. Washi is from Freckled Fawn, inks are Memento "rich cocoa" and Hero Arts "soft pool"

I am also entering this card in the Moxie Fab challenge to use speech bubbles

Enjoy your Monday!

March Stackaholic Challenge

First things first:
BEAR DOWN ARIZONA! See you in the Sweet 16!!!

I've been spending the weekend catching up on my scrapbook. By catching up I mean I got two pages finished from well over 6 months ago. Better late than never ;) Here is the sketch for DCWV March Stack-a-holic challenge

This layout uses one of my original DCWV favorites: "Dots Stripes & Plaids". I also used some chipboard embellishments from the "Dots Stripes & Plaids" collection.

Six months ago, Matt and I took a long weekend trip to visit his sister in Nashville. I think we both fell in love with that country-music-lovin, cowboy-boot-wearin' city and it was great to meet up with his family! The group picture is at the Opryland Resort and the photo on the right is near the capitol building.

I also wanted to try out the new scrapbook style that's blowin' up all over the interweb. Collage-ish and ultra-layered pages are really popular now. So this is my first attempt:

So this picture is from July 2012, when my parents visited Connecticut and we went on the Thimble Islands Cruise. I doodled, I splattered, I washied, I stapled, and I layered the hell out of this page. There's even a layer of vellum in there somewhere.

Polka dots on Easter eggs are kinda blowin' up right now, so I had to give it my own try. These were so easy to make. Materials needed: Mod Podge, basic hole puncher, colored paper, q-tips, brush

I found this great pattern paper (k1 memories at Michaels) that I could use to punch all of my colored polka dots. Then I just dipped the q-tip in the Mod Podge and made random dots over the egg. Place paper dots wherever your mod podge is. Let dry.

Once the dots were dry, I used a foam brush to paint one layer of mod podge over the whole egg. Done and Done.

Does is get any easier?

Play Date Cafe #174

Today is a gorgeous Play Date Cafe day and also the 7 Days of Easter Projects (day 5!)

The perfect-for-spring color story includes Amethyst, Emerald, and Peridot. We also have a VERY special sponsor: The Craft's Meow is celebrating its 2nd birthday and has a huge new release happening today.

The PDCC design team was lucky enough to get some Craft's Meow stamps to play with. Here is my Easter and spring card using the set "Easter Blessings"

This is a beautiful stamp set that works well for all Easter/Spring sentiments and images. I double stamped each of the chickies to give the ink a bolder color.

materials: The Craft's Meow "Easter Blessings", inks: distress ink "seedless preserves" and "evergreen bough", memento "olive grove", liquid pearls, freckled fawn washi tape.

The winner of this challenge will receive a prize from the Craft's Meow! Link up your projects over at the Play Date Cafe!

7 Days of Easter Projects #4

Welcome to Day 4 of the 7 Days of Easter Projects! The links to all participants are located at the bottom of this post... please leave comments if you have some time to show these ladies some love ;)
Happy crafting!!

Here is a mini collection of some spring/Easter ATCs that I created. All ATCs measure 2.5" x 3.5"

If you religiously follow my blog (who doesn't?) you've seen this stamp set before. I absolutely adore this "April Showers" set from Oriental Trading... It's currently on sale for $1.49!!!  I love paper piecing this little umbrella, and the stamps are surprisingly good.

This cutie little bunny is my latest fave from PTI and he looks so good with some bright springy inks.

This ATC does not have a single stamped image. I pieced it all together with some rub-ons in my stash (they were actually sent to me from Leslie... thank you!!)

7 Days of Easter Projects #3

AND HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO MY AMAZING MOM!!! So I have one Easter card to share and one special birthday card :)

Welcome to Day 3 of the 7 Days of Easter Projects! The links to all participants are located at the bottom of this post... please leave comments if you have some time to show these ladies some love ;)
Happy crafting!!

Today my amazing mother turns 60! I know she won't mind that I'm sharing her age. I hope she has a very special day and celebrates accordingly :) I will also be entering this card in the Moxie Fab "Emphasize the Negative" challenge.

I was super inspired by this card by Jess for PTI that pretty much exploded all over Pinterest. I die cut the kraft paper with my Silhouette to make the '60'. I put pattern paper from Cosmo Cricket "Clementine" under the die cut. The sentiment is from Papertrey Ink stamped with Hero Arts "Soft Pool" ink. I faux stitched around the edges to finish it off.

Now for my Easter card! I'm so excited to share this one, I think it's pretty 'me'

I got to play with my new Papertrey Ink alpha dies and stamps, the bunny stamp, my new inks! Swoon. It's been a fun week with a lot of new toys for me to enjoy :)

materials: Cosmo Cricket "Clementine" pad, Papertrey Ink "Polka Dot Parade #1", Papertrey Ink "Headline Alphabet Stamp", Papertrey Ink "Headline Alphabet Die", Hero Arts inks in "Tide Pool", "Orange Soda", "Butter Bar", "Pale Tomato", and some random rub-on

7 Days of Easter Projects #2

Welcome to Day 2 of the 7 Days of Easter Projects! Several talented crafty ladies are posting one Easter project a day for 7 days. We hope you will find some inspiration for your own Easter projects. The links to all participants are located at the bottom of this post... please leave comments if you have some time to show these ladies some love ;)
Happy crafting!!

What's your favorite Easter candy that you look forward to every single year? For me, it's those Robin's Eggs (mini ones, thank you). And no, you can't tell me they're the same as a Whopper because it just isn't true.

Here are some tags for Easter candy goodie bags using Papertrey Ink "Background Basics: Circles". I'm so so happy the postman found my PTI package in time for the weekend :)

The circles were stamped using Hero Arts ink in "Soft Pool" and "Butter Bar." The sentiment is from PTI "Polka Dot Parade #1" stamped in Memento "Tuxedo Black" ink.

Little glassine bags hold just the right amount of Robin's Eggs candy. I punched a hole in each tag and tied it around the treat bag with The Twinery twine 'Buttercream'.

7 Days of Easter Projects #1

Welcome to Day 1 of the 7 Days of Easter Projects! Several talented crafty ladies are posting one Easter project a day for 7 days (although today you might see some lucky charms and leprechauns). We hope you will find some inspiration for your own Easter projects. The links to all participants are located at the bottom of this post... please leave comments if you have some time to show these ladies some love ;)
Happy crafting!!

Did I mention today might be a lucky one? Hopefully you've got your green on and let me know if you find any pots o' gold around your neighborhood ;)

Happy St. Patrick's Day! Here's a little holiday art journal page to celebrate. I know this happy little man isn't quite a leprechaun but he's wearing green and is having a party so it fits.

The main colors are Dylusion spray inks in "Lime", "Cut Grass" and "Lemon Zest". I also used inks from Memento "olive grove" and Hero Arts "field greens" and "neon green". There are some various $1 stamps, Hero Arts stamps, Gelatin alphabet stamp, lawn fawn hearts, stickles, Gesso, Target washi tape, and neon green flocking powder.

This guy is just rockin' it. I hope somebody gave him a Guinness for his efforts.
