Happy Halloween from the Fur Babies!

Happy Halloween! I have an adorable fur baby photo to share, as promised, along with a coordinating scrapbook page.

Every year we do a little Halloween photo shoot with the animals... this was the hardest one yet! Everybody started out with a little witch hat, but our good guinea pig Pumpkin was the only one who kept it on! This is the closest un-blurry photo we got with all three of the fur babies :). (Check out the post about the BOO Banner here!)

The wonderful pattern paper is from DCWV "Spooky Time" stack. Since it's such a detailed paper, I kept everything else solid colors. Other papers are from DCWV "Bewitched" stacks and DCWV "Gauze" paper pad.

This cute monster is a stamp from My Cute Stamps, and the caption on the page says, "My Little Monsters". So I thought it was fitting :)

Have a safe and spooky Halloween, from our fur babies to yours!

Red Winter Joy

Don't tell my work space that Halloween is tomorrow, because that poor craft desk is cover in all things red, green, gold, and sparkly. While today is a wintery post, tomorrow I'll share our pets' Halloween photo shoot that they enjoyed so much :) Can't wait to show you all how cute they are!

Lawnscaping Challenge this week is to be inspired from something in your Pinterest account. I found a lot of beautiful winter scenes, and was especially drawn to this one:

So my card mimics the bold red box in the center, with pops of snowy white, and I even added a woodsy background to get those twigs represented. I used Lawn Fawn stamps "Peace, Joy, Love".

This is essentially an emboss-resist technique using acrylic paint instead of distress inks. I die cut the rolodex card, heat embossed the sentiment and snowflakes in white, then painted over the card with red paint. Once it all dried (don't heat it to dry or the embossing powder will melt into the paint! Patience.) I rubbed off the paint from the embossed sections using a baby wipe.

The card was placed on a wood grain embossed background, added a little label tab, twine, and some enamel dots. I'm kinda likin' it!

And while we're on the topic... make sure to follow me on Pinterest :)

Autumn turns to gold

*** Thank you so much, Cath, for making this a Trigger Target! I'm honored! ***

The last week of September brought the beginning stages of fall here in New England. It's such an exciting time of year. The windows start opening, the squirrels are busy, fresh apple cider pops up in the markets, and of course, the leaves start falling. Well this particular leaf somehow found its way into my home and was lying on my living room floor. I became really attached to this first autumn leaf, so I saved it, photographed it, and put it on a scrapbook page (what else would I do with it?).

The Tuesday Trigger at Moxie Fab World pushed me to finally make this page. So now I don't have a single dried leaf hanging out on my desk anymore.

There are a lot of little elements going on here, but the pattern paper and white paper really hold it all together. The great pattern paper is from DCWV "Modern Meadow" stack and there is also a strip of DCWV "Burlap" paper along the photo. The white piece was distressed around the edges with Distress Ink "Scattered Straw" and then splattered with spray inks from Dylusions. All other elements just build around those main pieces.

I don't usually journal on my scrapbook pages, but I thought this one needed a bit of an explanation :) To help preserve the leaf, I covered it in decoupage glue and it dried clear and firm.

There are a lot of different materials going on here, so click on the icons below for product details. The entire page is based on the colors of the leaf: gold, brown, red, and a touch of grey.

Hope you're enjoying your autumn :)
