MMMC #3 - Stencils and Pastes

The first of every month is always a big deal around here! The Mixed Media Monthly Challenge had another home run month of entries in July! I click and comment on every single gallery entry, and I truly enjoy visiting each of you and seeing your gorgeous work. THANK YOU for making MMMC a bit hit!

For the entire month of August, we're challenging you to use stencils and modeling pastes on your project. Any kind of thick texture paste will work and we encourage all sorts of different projects! Link up whatever you want, just follow our monthly theme :)

This month our random winner will receive a $25 gift card from Eclectic Paperie! They are a fantastic online crafty boutique, so the lucky winner will surely have fun shopping :)

I created a bright scrapbook page and used a lot of modeling paste in the background. My dear friend Nikky just got married last month! I got the color inspiration from her wedding colors; black and pink (and my teal earrings!).

I mixed my modeling paste with some teal Gelatos to get the great color. I then scraped it over my DCWV doily stencil. I repeated this stencil three times on my layout.

The black borders were also created with modeling paste and DCWV stencils. I mixed my paste with a little bit of black acrylic paint. After the pastes were dry, I painted a haphazard layer of white acrylic, layered various pattern papers to mat the photo, and then added chipboard accents. All papers are from the new DCWV "Melon Twist" paper stack, embellishments are from Maggie Holmes/Crate Paper.

Make sure you visit the Mixed Media Monthly Challenge blog for all the details! You have until August 31 to link up your project to the gallery, and be entered to win a gift certificate to Eclectic Paperie! Can't wait to see what you make!

Unity Thursday - Halloween Spirit

So happy to be back with the Unity Thursday hops! I've been sooo busy being on vacations (tough, huh?) that I didn't have time to craft and hop.

Since it is just one day away from August, I have completely dove into the Halloween spirit! I love love looove autumn, and love it even more now that I live somewhere with real seasons :)

How cute is this FREEBIE stamp?! This adorable little ghosty is free with your purchase this weekend at Unity! I made this fun Halloween tag using DCWV "Bewitched" papers, some May Arts ribbons, and colored the image with Copics.

Next up I haaaad to ink up Esmerelda Girl... this witch speaks my language :) I colored her with the Copics shown below, then matted her on some DCWV "Spooky" pattern paper.

Make sure you leave comments along the way for a chance to win this amazing prize pack!

You do not want to miss the sale at Unity this weekend! Make sure you shop shop shop! But for right now... continue hopping along with the rest of this talented team. Your next stop is SHILO

Watercolor Backgrounds

I dived into the watercolors for today's cards! It was fun to have all the paints and brushes out again. I didn't get fancy and just had fun blending up the backgrounds.

First up is my card for the Lawnscaping Challenge to use watercolors. I used a mix of blue and green colors to blend a ocean for my sailboat.

Once my paper was completely dry, I heat embossed the sailboat in black and paper pieced the sails to help them sand out from the water. I took my glue pen to draw waves and little stars, then covered it in teal glitter.

I double stamped the sentiment from "Chit Chat" then filled in the bubble with Glossy Accents.

My second card is for the Simon Says Stamp Wednesday Challenge, which is embossing. I pulled out a texture plate from Spellbinders for the background and used heat embossing for the sentiment and my little gnome.

I love this little gnome! The stamps are from Unity Stamp Co "What's up Gnomey?" and "Tumbleweed Houses".

The woodgrain embossed paper helped my watercolors blend really well. The colors would seep along the lines in the paper, and I really love how they blended. I also heat embossed the gnome and colored him with Prismacolor Pencils.

I had fun with these challenges and got out some tools I don't normally play with. Thanks for stopping by :)
