Sunrise, Sunset

It has been a busy busy weekend in my household. Last week I announced the arrival of our new fur baby, Kiwi :) She is precious, becoming more and more comfortable around us, and now even allows Meeko to walk by her without growling! These are big improvements! Last week I also posted a picture on my Instagram of the two magically sharing space on our bed... well as I type at this very moment, the two are sharing a single pillow!

Granted, Meeko is watching her every move out of the corner of his eye, but this is still a big deal :)

Mondays always mean there is a new Paper Smooches Sparks challenge! I look forward to it every week. This time is a color challenge...

I got my fingers messy and played with my fake Gelatos (got a pack of Portfolio pastels for $8 total!) and some fun DCWV textured paper.

Here is my little sunset scene using Portfolio oil pastels and Paper Smooches "Metropolis" set. To create the panel, I first did a light coat of Gesso on a piece of white cardstock. Once dried, I colored the whole piece with yellow, orange, and light pink pastels. Then I gave a little mist of water and rubbed it all around with my finger (think: finger painting!). I used the same steps to color the buildings, just with greys and browns instead.

The colored panel was attached to this great textured Gauze paper from DCWV, and a simple banner sentiment layered underneath.

materials: Paper Smooches "Metropolis", Neenah Solar White cardstock, DCWV 'Guaze' textured cardstock, kraft paper, StazOn ink "Jet Black", Portfolio oil pastels, Liquitex Gesso, enamel dots from My Mind's Eye

Enjoy your Monday... and happy Back to School for a lot of you :)
