MMMC #22 - Spring Canvas

Oh it is so so nice to say hello to March! The winter is almost behind us, you survived the snow, and spring holidays are on the way. The March Mixed Media Monthly Challenge is a photo inspiration that should get you hopping to your craft desk...

I was inspired by the Easter egg theme, the glitter, and the fun bright colors. This spring time canvas was the result...

Here's a quick look at how I put this canvas together:

I started by sifting through my collection of monoprints on deli paper and collaged them on my canvas. (For another idea of what to do with those finished gelatin prints, check out my earlier post here!) I was sure to pick prints that used very bright colors that reminded me of spring!

Once the glue was completely dry I used texture paste over a stencil. While the paste was still wet, I added two colors of blue embossing powder and immediately heat set it. This also causes the texture paste to bubble up, but that's what I wanted. If you don't want the paste to bubble, wait til the paste is dry before heat setting the embossing powder.

Time for the eggs! I found these small paper eggs from JoAnn, painted them bright blue, covered them in mod podge, and then finally rolled them in blue glitter. I kind of adore how they turned out! The nest was created using Tim Holtz Boxwood Twine that I painted with Twisted Citron Distress Paint.

Of course every Mixed Media Monthly Challenge comes with an awesome sponsor and prize! This month we are welcoming Waffle Flower as our sponsor! They are giving one lucky winner a $25 gift certificate to their shop :) But you have to enter your project in our gallery to win! Good luck!
