Sail Away

Happy FriYay! I am so happy that the season for All Things Nautical is back with us! Summer = Nautical.. I don't think that will ever change (at least I hope it won't!). The July 2015 Simon Says Stamp Card Kit is right on point with the best trend of the year.

Last Friday I was having a fun crafting session with my #artsyfartsygirls Jenn Shurkus and Lynn Kopas. Lucky for me, Jenn was in a kind enough mood to let me play with her new card kit... yippee! I think she was really trying to return the favor from the super awesome nautical knot I made for her to tie on HER card (true friends, amirite?).

I loved so many of the pattern papers in the kit that I decided to go a Paper Piecing route with this card. The ocean has the wave stamped repeatedly on a wave pattern paper, so that gave a pretty cool effect. I paper pieced the sailboat and the clouds with different patterns, too.

I really wanted more red on my card, so I stamped the stripes in Lipstick Red along each border and added a few little hearts floating in the ocean. I adhered the sailboat with foam adhesive to bring it above the waves a little more.

I stamped the sentiment and it looked totally wonky... completely my poor stamping, nothing with the stamp. So Jenn suggested I just cover over it with glitter and that definitely did the trick! I love how it turned out.

Have a lovely weekend and Happy Father's Day on Sunday to those in the states :)
