Hero Studio Hop - Ichabod's Study

Summer has really flown by and somehow we've already arrived to August! I am always excited for the autumn crafty season and the Hero Studio release today is the perfect jump start to Halloween.

Hero Arts will give away a $50 gift card, drawn from the comments left across the hop. Enter by Tuesday, August 5th at 11:59pm PT, and the winner will be announced on the Hero Arts blog the following week. Leave a comment on all stops for more chances to win!

I am really enjoying this kit the more I dive into it! The portraits and general vibe instantly made me think of the Haunted Mansion ride at Disneyland. I wanted to mimic the greens and purples that the cast members wear when they work at that ride.

Here is a picture of evvvvverything that you get with this kit. It is a LOT to work with.

I had fun dressing up the ornate frames. I used gold foil paper for the frame accent. You can see I also used the August Layering Stencil of the Month, called Sunnyside Manor. I used all layers of the stencil for the backdrop of each portrait. Then for the Plum card panel, I only used one layer to make it look like a simple wallpaper.

My second card to share features the August Stamp and Cut of the Month, called You Are Magic...

Isn't this so cool?! I paired the fortune teller's crystal ball with colorful smoke and fog using the Bonus Item (only available if you get The Whole Kit) this month, a stencil called Magic Mist. I blended the mist using a variety of inks in teals, greens, purples. I even added some lines of prismaglitter throughout the mist.

The stand of the crystal ball was stamped on Charcoal cardstock and then heat embossed with Clear Powder to give it a shiny look. I also added acetate to the opening of the globe to add to the effect.

Lastly, I heat embossed the 'Stay Spooky' with sparkle black powder and the various moths with black detail powder.

Thanks for stopping by! Make sure to leave comments along the hop for a chance to win a $50 Hero Arts gift certificate!
