MMMC - Rustic

Hello September! The best month of the year (my birthday month)!!! This month the Mixed Media Monthly Challenge theme is RUSTIC! And what better sponsor than the gorgeously rustic Canvas Corp Brand?! They were SO generous to the MMMC team, providing us with all sorts of fantastic goodies to play with. They'll also be giving one of our lucky entrants a $25 gift certificate... WOOHOO!

My box of Canvas Corp materials was filled with this vintage nautical scrapbook and mixed media paper. I was in nautical heaven for sure. I fussy cut the lobster (cuz they're my faves!) from one of the kraft scrapbook papers, colored him with Red Cherry Gelatos, and a generous coat of Glass Bead Glitter Gel. I love him.

I cut the tag from the Canvas Corp mixed media paper which had some gorgeous old-world-map images on it. The texture of the mixed media paper is so smooth, it made it easy to blend my Gelatos on top.

I wrapped the bottom of the tag with some canvas and burlap trimming that Canvas Corp provided us. I also pulled some individual burlap frays to add to my seashell from Myrtle Beach.

Go on... Be Brave With Your Life! And enter the RUSTIC Mixed Media Monthly Challenge this month :)

Scraplift Sunday - To The Beach!

Hello Sunday scrappers :) I love Scraplift Sundays at the Paper Issues Friends and Fans Facebook page... they pretty much give you permission to copy someone's gorgeous page!

I scrapped some fun photos of the Myrtle Beach Boardwalk. The boardwalk pictures really fit perfectly with the bright fun embellishments from Doodlebug Fun in the Sun collection.

The scraplift inspiration today comes from this amazing layout by the super talented Kelly Feldman

Enjoy the rest of your Sunday! Hopefully you get some craft time in :)

Myrtle Beach Layout

Quickie happy hour post! I'm sharing a layout I created featuring a panoramic picture I took of our hotel view of Myrtle Beach...

I was inspired by the current August Sketch at Paper Issues

I used the happy and colorful new Doodlebug - Fun in the Sun collection. I never would have considered myself a Doodlebug person but this line had me sold immediately!

Mini Wood Pallet Home Decor

Two weeks ago my friend and I visited an amazing store called Scrapbooks by the Sea in Myrtle Beach. There we found these adorable mini wood pallets by Maya Road, and the store owner said "We'd love to see what you make with those!"... so this was my challenge to myself! Use those darn wood pallets!

I used the 4"x4" pallet to create a mini home decor piece for my autumn mantle. This project is also created for the August Mix it Up Monday Challenge at Paper Issues - ANYTHING GOES!

I combined some Faber Castell Design Memory Craft Gelatos with beautiful new paper from Jen Hadfield's new Warm and Cozy collection. Here's how I did it:

I started by Gesso'ing my pallet, then coloring the wood with Gelatos in Ice Coffee and Gold Champagne. Then I generously sprayed it with my Orange Soda Gelatos mist that I created. This helps bring in some orange color to the wood that's also found in the Warm and Cozy paper collection.

Here's a little tip for decoupaging with pattern paper: carefully separate the layers of paper in one corner, then slowly peel the patterned layer apart from the base paper. You're left with a very thin designer paper that will easily glue to whatever project you're creating!

I tore pieces of my paper and adhered them to the wood pallet with Gel Medium. Now it was time to pick my favorite Warm and Cozy embellishments to finish off my mantle decoration :)

Design Memory Craft Design Team!

So a couple months ago some very very happy news came my way! I shared this all over silly social media outlets, but I realize I never actually posted anything RIGHT HERE! I am so excited to now be a member of the CORE Design Team for Faber Castell Design Memory Craft!!!
Squeeee!

This has been my 'ultimate crafty goals' for years, and to finally achieve that goal just feels so amazing. I thought I would share here a few projects that have already gone live on the Design Memory Craft blog. Enjoy!

My 'Put a Bird on It' canvas was my first post as a DT member! You can visit the original post here for a step-by-step tutorial. I even have a process video for this, which you can check out here!

My second project was another BRIGHT one, filled with color and techniques. My 'Freedom Lies in Being Bold' art journal original post has a full photo step-by-step tutorial. You definitely want to check that out!

My third project for Design Memory Craft is probably my favorite so far. The 'Be-YOU-Tiful Solar System' art journal page was filled with new-to-me techniques that I know I'll use again! I also have a full process video for this project; make sure you watch it here!

My last post (for now) actually just went live on the Design Memory Craft blog today! This was a fun collaboration with Clear Scraps acrylic products and I created a little photo clipboard. All the details and steps are shared at the Design Memory Craft blog here!

Thanks for checking in with me :) I promise not to keep you all out of the loop next time!

Take 5 Tuesday - Harper's Ferry

Oh Tuesday. It's probably the most forgotten day of the week, don't you think? At least for today, Paper Issues has a brand new Take 5 Tuesday! I used the fun papers and embellies from Carta Bella's 'Great Outdoors' collection and some photos from a recent trip with my parents to Harper's Ferry.

I just love the old-timey feel of these papers. It fits perfectly with the historic town we visited :)

For my 5 options, I used Green, Flowers, Washi Tape, Stickers, and Something Silver

As always, you can pick up your own Carta Bella goodies (and everything else!) for 20% off with code RWKRAFTS at the Paper Issues store!
