Blissful Days

Happy last Friday of 2013! I am squeezing in this simple card to link up with Unity Friends with Flair. I couldn't let the last link-up of the year go by without me! ;) I inked up the sweet stamps from Unity "Could I be any Cuter?" and colored with Copics.

(I apologize for the photo quality... it is late and dark!!) The details in the stamp are so great, and I love that all the stamps in this set share the same look.

Hope you all had a beautiful Christmas holiday and have a Happy New Year!

Merry Christmas 2013

From my fur babies to yours, we wish you all a very Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays. We hope your day is filled with love and joy!

I'm also sharing my Christmas card to my hubby. I used an adorable digital stamp purchased from the Doodle Garden on Etsy. I really love her images and had fun coloring this sweet mouse!

The image was colored with Copics and I stamped the sentiment with Papertrey Ink "City Scene Christmas Sentiment Mini" set. Some crystal Stickles were added to the star. Isn't this mouse so cute?! I love it.

And the winner of the DCWV paper packs for the New Year's hop is... ELISE C. Congrats, Elise!

Merry Christmas :)

New Year's Inspiration Event - and giveaway!

Welcome to the New Year’s Celebration Event brought to you by "The Inspiration Crew".   We’re just a group of crafty friends who love being creative. This time we're doing a 1 day event to provide you with tons of inspiration to ring in the New Year!
AND... I have a special shiny prize for one lucky comment! Check it out at the bottom of this post :)

I have 3 cards to help ring in the New Year, plus some wine tags... All are inspired by a campaign Kate Spade started last year, "Pop Fizz Clink"

my inspiration - Kate Spade bracelet

Very simple, but still fun, and very shimmery! I used DCWV "glitzy glitter" in silver and gold to die cut the letters (dies from PTI 'headline alphabet'). The DCWV glitter paper is so soft and doesn't flake at all, even with these skinny dies.

To add just a little more gold, the cards are splattered with Color Shine "Gold" mist.

These wine tags were created with the letters and scraps I had left over from the cards. The base measures 1.5" x 3", punch a 1" circle out of the top, make a little cut at the top so it can slide over your glass. Just add a different phrase to each tag so your guests don't forget which glass is theirs!

GIVEAWAY! COMMENT TO WIN
GIVEAWAY!!! It's only appropriate to give away something shiny and shimmery for the New Year! Leave a comment on this post for a chance to win DCWV "Metallic" pad and the DCWV "Touch of Foil" pad. Winner will be announced on Christmas Day!!!

Be sure to click the links to visit each of the blogs. Happy New Year!

Holiday Mini Art Journal

We made it to Friday! For a lot of you, today marks the start of winter vacation (yay!) and some relaxation ahead. I'm sharing something a little different today for Unity Friends with Flair post. I have a mini chipboard art journal for the holidays, inspired by a December Daily 'Junk Journal' that Andrea Gomoll has been posting every day. Picture heavy post ahead... thanks for joining in my painting journey :)

Cover - papers from DCWV 'Christmas Made'
I used a small chipboard album from Maya Road (measures about 3"x3"). All pattern papers are either DCWV "Christmas Made", DCWV "Christmas Memories", My Mind's Eye "All is Bright", or Authentique "Festive."

inside chipboard pages

The first page was embossed to add a woodgrain texture, painted with gold and silver, and dotted in white paint (covered bubble wrap). The silver leaves are from Unity and stamped with paint.

The page spread above uses layered paper, stencils, acrylic paint (red, green, white, teal), and Unity Stamps December calendar, "Numbers Etc", and "Wishing you Joy".

This is definitely my favorite page... so bright and fun! The background is stamped with white acrylic paint and Unity Stamp "Woodgrain Script". I cut various sized triangles and layered them to create a happy Christmas tree.

This page uses Twinkling H2O watercolors, so it's very shimmery in person. All images were stamped on book text, watercolored, then added to the chipboard page. Sentiment and bird stamp are from Unity grab bags, and the houses are from Unity "Finally Fall" set.

I just had to use this book text I found with a cut up tree: "We could conceive of the tree without thinking that it inherently exists or not." (my book text always comes from How to Practice: The Way to a Meaningful Life by the Dalai Lama). The pattern paper is from DCWV "Christmas Made" and background stamp is Unity "Tattered Chicken Wire".

This page... I just wanted to play with some of my new Unity itty bitty stamps! "Happy Day" and "One day at a time" and some various Twinkling H2Os.

This page is also in the running for favorite... there are a lot of different layers and textures on here that were difficult to photograph. It is also misted with 'Goosebumps' for some cool texture and sprinkled with silver glitter.

Thanks for joining in my little journal flip! I hope you get your paints out and just play. Have a wonderful holiday break... and make sure to stop back tomorrow for a special New Year celebration!

Challenge Yourself - Holiday Layout with Summery Products

Usually challenges that pop up this time of year are to use holiday themed papers for non-holiday projects. Well I don't want to look at my holiday papers anymore. But, I decided to challenge myself in the opposite direction: to use my Summer themed papers for a very Christmas themed layout.

So with that personal challenge in place, here is my Christmas tree with papers from October Afternoon "Midway" collection...

By this time of the crafting season, I get so burnt out of my holiday products that pulling out something totally different was very refreshing! The 'Midway' collection is a carnival themed pack filled with bright colors and bold patterns. I love how it makes my Christmas tree look so happy and bright :)

The canvas frame is from another summery collection, Maggie Holmes' "Flea Market". The enamel dots are from My Mind's Eye "The Sweetest Thing" (another summer collection!). The alpha stickers are from Glitz Design "Wild and Free" collection.

I think I had a successful personal challenge to use summer papers for a holiday layout! I now challenge you to challenge yourself to the same challenge  ;) This will also be linked up to the Paper Issues gallery because everything about holiday decor makes me happy!

And I don't want to hear "Blue Christmas" by Elvis anymore.
