How long has it been since I've done a Happy Hour Post?! It's 5:00 somewhere (here, right now, it's 5 o'clock ha) so let's get this Happy Hour post on the road.
I have a special layout AND matching card using the current January 2015 Hip Kit. Of course my favorite thing about this kit is the oodles of goodies from Dear Lizzy's Serendipity collection! It's the first collection where I've purchased 2 of everything... and I don't regret it one bit!
Well, the forecast is calling for SNOW and SLEET all day tomorrow (yuck) so to keep my sanity I created a BEACH layout using photos from last summer. The house in Maine where we were staying was right on my favorite beach. Many many hours were spent with my toes in the sand at Crescent Beach.
The base paper for the layout is a very subtle grey chevron print from the DCWV "Quince Blossom" stack. I took 4 pages from the Serendipity 6x6 pad and cut up a lot of strips of each pattern. Then I just worked on laying the strips on the main page until they created their own design.
What I wouldn't give to be back there right now!! You can see I also used chipboard embellishments and alphabet Thickers also from the Serendipity collection.
A couple splatters of Color Shine mist in Gold finishes this layout! And I really love how it turned out!
Now for a matching card! After I had cut up all those strips I had a few left overs... so I used the same concept to create a card.
As in the layout, I just glued on some strips of pattern paper until I liked the balance. I used the 'xoxo' phrase from the Serendipity collection and used my Peerless Watercolors to color it. I also applied some clear Wink of Stella and a thin coat of Glossy Accents to the sentiment.
The sweet little heart vellum paper is from DCWV "Foiled Vellum" 6x6 pad. Again, I finished off the card with some Color Shine Gold mist.
I'm so happy you stopped in for my Friday Happy Hour post! I loved playing with my Dear Lizzy stash :) Have a fabulous weekend
