7 Days of Valentine Projects #6

Today I'm pretty excited to share my favorite chocolate cookie recipe ever (I've tried a lot. Promise). And a very simple treat bag label to go along with it.

The label uses pattern paper from Carte Bella "Devoted" pad, Spellbinders Nestibilities dies "Labels 1", sentiment stamp from Lawn Fawn "My Silly Valentine", heart banner stamp from Wplus9 "Banner Love", Memento ink in "Tuxedo Black" and "Rhubarb Stalk", and Stickles in "Cotton Candy".

My favorite chocolate cookie recipe EVER comes from my America's Test Kitchen cook book (best PBS show ever)... enjoy ;)

Ingredients:
1 3/4 cups unbleached all-purpose flour (8 3/4 ounces)
1/2 teaspoon baking soda
14 tablespoons unsalted butter (1 3/4 sticks) Melted
1/2 cup granulated sugar (3 1/2 ounces)
3/4 cup packed dark brown sugar (5 1/4 ounces)
1 teaspoon salt
2 teaspoons vanilla extract
1 large egg
1 large egg yolk
1 1/2 cups semi-sweet chocolate chips

1) Adjust oven rack to middle position and heat oven to 375 degrees. Line 2 large baking sheets with parchment paper. Whisk flour and baking soda and salt together in medium bowl; set aside.
2) Add both sugars and vanilla to bowl with butter and whisk until fully incorporated. Add egg and yolk and whisk until mixture is smooth.  Stir in flour mixture until just combined, about 1 minute. Stir in chocolate chips, giving dough final stir to ensure no flour pockets remain.
3) Divide 2 tablespoon cookie dough balls onto baking sheets. Bake until cookies are golden brown and still puffy, and edges have begun to set but centers are still soft, 10 to 14 minutes, rotating baking sheet halfway through baking. Transfer baking sheet to wire rack; cool cookies completely before serving.
Enjoy!
And make sure you check out the other talented participants in this Valentine's Project hop :)

Play Date Cafe Challenge #167

Oh my goodness, the Play Date Cafe entries for the color splash challenge last week were ah-maze-zing. I cannot wait to see what y'all create with this delicious color story... fuchsia, sprout, and canary

I gotta say, I fell in love with this color story the moment I laid eyes on it. However, it gave me quite a challenge to find the right stamps, inks, and papers to match just what I wanted. Totally worth it in the end!

All stamps are from Paper Smooches "Falling for You" set. They are colored with Copic markers and a touch of Liquid Pearls.

Our winner this week will win a fantastic prize from My Creative Classroom! Make sure to link your project entry over at The Play Date Cafe!

This card is also part of the 7 Days of Valentine Projects blog hop. Check out the other amazing projects!

For my first Valentine's project, I'm sharing an art journal love page....

My father in law bought me a box full of weird vintage cards from Sante Fe and I'm finally putting some to use. This elephant was cut up from one of the cards and adds a lot to my page

The "love" stamps are from paper smooches and hampton arts. I colored the letters with Prismacolor pencils blended with mineral spirits. The cross border stamp is Papertrey Ink stamped in "picked raspberry" distress ink. I also used some Freckled Fawn washi tape and basic watercolors

The ink spray is all Dylusions and a dylusions mask/stencil. I used my Gesso for the first time, too! Some Stickles and liquid pearls finish it off.

Play Date Cafe #164

Welcome back to the best day of the week :) Play Date Cafe color story day!!!

We welcome you to create ANY project, decor, recipe (anything!) using some Cadet Blue, Chartreuse, and Leather

This card was inspired by the colors (of course) and all those great geometric patterns in the color story image

I used a new-to-me mini stamp from Papertrey Ink for the hexagons and the sentiment stamp is Paper Smooches "chilly chums" set. The pattern paper is from DCWV "green tea" stack which is PERFECTION for this color challenge... pure lime, blues, and chocolates. I mixed some blue and green embossing powder for the sentiment. Added some lime twine and a few blings.

The winner of this weeks challenge will win a prize from Simon Says Stamp! Be sure to enter your creation at PDCC for a chance to win :)

My One Little Word....

CALM

I hope to have a sense of 'calm' in my life throughout the year of 2013. I have already been so inspired by the One Little Word class with Ali Edwards. This will be a difficult word to embrace for me, but I'm looking forward to the journey ahead.

I'm sharing with y'all my "intention" cards for each month of the year. Please follow along with me each month... this blog isn't usually too personal, so bare with me one post a month :)

I also thought my colors and patterns worked so well with the Moxie Fab Tuesday Trigger. And the photo inspiration looks like the CALMest place to spend a lazy Sunday

If you have a word to live by, what will it be??
