How-To Tuesday - Impromptu Acrylic Block

Happy How-To Tuesday! It has certainly been too long since our last How-To.  This is something that I did on the fly late one night when I was desperate to use a big ol' stamp that didn't fit on any of my clear stamping blocks...

So I was frantically looking around for anything that had a slick surface to hold my large Inkadinkado flower stamp.  I originally was going to use one of those black plates from my Texture Boutique, but it's not too see-through, so that didn't work.  So I grabbed a drawer from my little desk organizer, emptied everything out of it, and viola a perfect large block for my clear stamp! (I had this issue in the first place because I am way too cheap to pay $30 for a large clear block, thanks)

The clear drawer actually worked very very well. While I was stamping, I could push my hand on the inside of the drawer to make sure it was nice and even.  I added the little square blocks to the photo so you could see why this stamp just wasn't going to fit :)
Not bad, huh?! It stamped really well, I was pleasantly surprised. I have spared myself of yet another day where I wish I had a huge clear block but am too cheap to buy one. High five
This is just to show y'all where the drawer came from; this little organizer that sits on the corner of my desk.  I believe the unit is from the Container Store (heaven).

What impromptu crafty ideas do you find yourself using at 11 o'clock at night?? I think that's when all the best creative uses come to play :)

  1. I used to do the same thing and use whatever I had sitting around! I've used my old CD cases before for stamping.

  2. I use my cuttlebug plates instead of a large acrylic block, as I'm far too cheap to buy one!!!

  3. This is such a great idea, Rachel! I have to say my brain works a bit better at 11am rather than 11pm!
